Our Headquarters

Samac is an Engineering Solutions company that is based in Durban KZN at Unit 2, Block C, Umkhumbane Entrepreneurial Support Centre, in Mayville. The company is premised in finding innovative solutions to the evolving industrial and technological global challenges. The core function of Samac Engineering is industrial product development. Some of the main product line for the company includes Refrigeration, Air Conditioning Services, and Precision Component manufacturing. Samac specialises in Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Designs, Engineering Inventions & Innovations, and Prototype Development.

The company supports clean energy and zero carbon emissions through the development of renewable energy technologies. Over the past decade, Samac Engineering Solutions has developed significant strategic partnerships which includes institutions of higher learning to leverage knowledge base and invigorate new technological innovations whilst enabling learners to do internships.

Mr. Thabang Mofokeng

(B-Tech Marketing, MBA): CEO

Thabang holds a B-Tech Degree in Marketing (DUT) and an MBA degree (MANCOSA). Over the years he has served as a Chairperson of the SME forum at the TIKZN, Business Advisor and Mentor for uMsobomvu Youth Fund, Director for The Mentorship Development Institute of South Africa (MEDISA) which was in partnership with the Southern African Business Linkages (SAIBL).

He worked for a number of institutions and has over 10 years Business Management experience. Mofokeng received a Business Management Certificate from the Ronald Howard Brown Institute in 2006/7 in Mauritius in partnership with the University of Pretoria and State Georgia University (USA).

He has attained a number of Certificates including upstream and downstream Petroleum Management and Mining Management from the Post Graduate School of Business in Wits University. Mofokeng served as the Managing Director of Inqaba Trade & Logistics (Pty) Ltd and also trained in Reggio Emilio (Italy) by Durocem Italia. He is currently part of the Secretariat for the KZN Economic Council, a Director for Sabelwe Business Enterprise and ACENO Energy.

Mr. Mpumzi Swana

(B.Sc Chemical Engineering): COO

Mpumzi Swana is a young innovative entrepreneur, he holds a BSc. Honours Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of KwaZulu Natal. His passion for green energy technology has also lead him to start Aceno Energy which is a youth owned company that is focused on developing wave energy technology to generate electricity. He has been involved in the development of various products such as Off-grid boom gate system, mobile air conditioning system and an educational App.

His various achievements include winning the 2015 Moving Ideas competition run by SABS Design Institute and Transnet, he also holds 3 engineering Patents and in 2017 was chosen as one of the top 5 Youth innovators in Africa in the energy sector.

Mr. Hishal Vallabh

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Hishal Vallabh holds a B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Durban University of Technology in Kwa-Zulu Natal. He has operated in many design based engineering environments ranging from Energy projects for the local eThekwini Municipality to Tongaat Hulett and Federal Mogul disc brake division.

He has been involved in small scale wind turbine design and wind monitoring stations, industrial heat pump rollouts for the municipal electricity depots, and a participant of 2 energy audits for prominent buildings in the greater Durban area. His interests range from amateur rocketry to investment algorithms for trading systems.

Mr. Siyabonga Phakathi

Supply Chain Manager

Mr Phakathi holds a B.Com Supply Chain & Marketing, BCom Honours in Supply Chain & Logistics Management and Post-Grad in Policy and Development from the University of KwaZulu Natal. The areas of proficiency involves the following; Supply Analysis abilities, Logistics Planning, Supply & Demand Planning, Material Handling Planning and Supplier Negotiations. Mr Phakathi has worked for Edcon as an Operations Management Trainee, and this position entailed in the main management of inventory and communication with the suppliers.

He has also held various leadership positions in different organizations which have help fine-tune his leadership abilities. He has led as the Provincial Chairperson of Black Management Forum (BMF) Student Chapter in KwaZulu Natal and therefore served as member of its National Leadership and KZN Corporate Board of the BMF. Mr Phakathi is a co-founder and a director of a growing retail company called Linbed (Pty) Ltd and a director of ACENO (Pty) Ltd.

Mr. Mpendulo Makhanya

Senior Electrical Engineer

Mpendulo Makhanya is a young Electrical engineer who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics from Durban University of Technology in Kwa-Zulu Natal. He has a N.D in Specialist Project Management from Business Studies Unit in Durban. Prior to SAMAC Engineering Solution to joining, Mpendulo served as IT Technician at Durban University of Technology, Mechanical engineering technician at Technology Innovation Agency, Project manager at KDDN Project Developers and Chief Information’s officer at AZILE Investments.

From previous employment and involvements; he gained experiences in Information Technology, Electronic systems, Telecommunication system, Industrial automation, C\C++ Programming and Electrical & Mechanical Engineering design

Mr. Russell Thabo Mngadi

Mechanical Engineer

Russell Thabo Mngadi started his Mechanical Engineering studies at Coastal College KZN (Umbilo Campus) where he completed his N4, and then went on to complete a diesel fitting course at
Transnet school of engineering. He then completed his National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
at Mangosuthu University of Technology.

Thabo is currently serving as a Mechanical Engineer at Samac Engineering solutions where he has been working on a number of innovative, greening projects with the company where his major skills are but not limited to Component Design, Design of HVAC systems, producing manufacturing specification 2D drawings, Design and implement cost-effective equipment, and modification to improve safety and reliability in the company.

Mr. S’phamandla Ernest Mavuka

Millwright Engineer

S’phamandla Ernest Mavuka is a qualified Millwright Engineer from the Shukela Training Centre, with particular specialities in the electro-mechanician field. He possesses exceptional skills in the domain of machine troubleshooting and PLC fault finding in combination with proficient skills for general engineering fabrication. With a vast skill set in both mechanical and electrical fields, his aptitudes and competencies complement the SAMAC Engineering Solutions scope of projects.

His experiences include but are not limited to technician at Hesto Harnesses, General Fabrication, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Structural design. In swift, his broad range of skills enables him to conduct meticulous attention to all projects.
